Ongoing
Cambridgeshire
At Cambridge Hub, we are committed to making valuable impact in local communities and this means partnering with local organisations to create social action. Whether you have an opportunity our students would enjoy, would benefit from a skilled placement service or have a fantastic new project idea, we would love to hear from you. Read more below about all the opportunities we have for you to partner with us.
Skilled Placement Services
The Social Innovation Programme (SIP)
The SIP is a 6 week consultancy project, pairing teams of students with a charity or social enterprise to work on a challenge brief provided by you. Cambridge Hub will support you to create a robust brief, as well as train the students to consult for you. We are currently accepting registrations of interest for our October-December 2019 programme. Learn more here.
Impact Labs
We’re launching a new programme! Impact Labs trains teams of University of Cambridge PhD researchers in key impact measurement skills so that they can support local youth organisations to achieve their goals. We'll run two cohorts in 2019: 2nd February - 19th March and 19th March - 8th May. The programme especially targets PhD researchers in Arts, Humanities and the Social Sciences, but all PhDs are welcome to apply. Send an email to eleanor.chapman@cambridgehub.org to find out more and to get involved.
Social Impact Voluntary Placements (SIVP)
Through the Social Impact Voluntary Placements (SIVP), we recruit high-calibre students from across the Hub network who are committed to creating social change. While taking part in the scheme, students are offered a comprehensive programme of training, enabling them to develop a broad skill set which compliments a career in the not-for-profit sector and start their internship with you well. We would be happy to talk with you about hosting an intern this summer. Learn more here.
Volunteering Opportunities
Schools Plus
Schools Plus is a tutoring scheme, pairing student tutors with young people. We currently work with three schools across Cambridge, particularly working with disadvantaged pupils. Teachers work with our student project coordinators to design projects that suit theit young people the best. Cambridge Hub will recruit and train and pay the travel expenses of tutors for your young people. If you're interested in getting involved, get in touch with Ellie: eleanor.chapman@cambridgehub.org.
Community Projects across Cambridge
We are always looking for community partners to set up new projects and initiatives with our students. Previous examples include the Edible Garden, a collaborative multigenerational community garden set up in Murray Edwards college along with Transition Cambridge and Dementia Compass.
Another example is Hiraeth, "a platform for expression and sharing through literature where everyone and no one is at home".
We are particularly excited about community partners that bring a concern or problem to us, and are interested in co-developing student-led sustainable solutions. If you think your organisation could benefit from student volunteers or a specific initiative, write to Will at manager@cambridgehub.org, and let's see what we can do together!
