About the Challenge
Background
[Tell us a little bit about the big picture. What need is it that you are trying to tackle?]
The Challenge
1. The challenge in one line
[Clearly outline the aim of your brief in one or two sentences. Misunderstandings at this stage can get your team starting off on the wrong track, so try and sum this up as clearly as possible.]
2. The challenge in more detail
[Provide more detail about the challenge. It is helpful to keep in mind, that the teams in average consist of 4-6 students. Team members invest about 4 hours per week, team leaders about 5-6 hours.]
3. Support
[Write down what support you are willing to give.]
[Also, have a think about how you would like the students to make and maintain contact with you. You don’t have to decide this now, but if you have constraints, it might be helpful to let them know in advance. For example:
-Partners who are based in Cambridge arrange weekly meetings in person.
-Partners who are based a long way from central Cambridge often arrange weekly Skype meetings with their team, or the team leader.
-Partners who are unavailable at certain times of day, or dates during the project, often let their teams know in advance.
Partners who prefer regular contact may suggest setting up a WhatsApp, Facebook or Slack group to maintain this communication.]
4. Internal contacts
[Write down anybody that you think your students team might need to get in touch with within your organisation and how they can get in touch (email, Slack etc.)]
5. Documents or data
[List any documents or data your team should request from you, or links to them online. This gets your team off to a fast start, which is vital due to the timescale of the project. (Please note that all students sign an agreement at the start of the programme which ensures the safety of your data. If you would like help thinking about your data protection as part of the project, please do get in touch with us.)]
6. External contacts
[Note down details of any external contacts that you might provide - if your task is not internal-facing, please confirm with any relevant individuals/groups/organisations, that they are happy to be contacted by your student team]
7. Key outcomes
[List key outcomes that you wish to see. Make sure that the outcomes for this assignment are as specific as possible. Clearly outline any documents you wish to see at the end, e.g. including raw data alongside your report, copies of templates that may have been made, or the questionnaires used. The team will be working out of a Google Drive folder, which will be shared with you at the end of the programme, along with your final report.]

8. Key steps likely to be taken
[List key steps. Define, as far as possible, when tasks need to be carried out. If there are any key dates by which these steps should be taken please make sure you include them. This could be, for example, data collection that may need to take place before a certain public event within your organisation.]
